Thinking Blue

Home Education Thinking Blue

Thinking Blue is WAMSI’s High School Outreach program connecting students in their final year of high school with top scientists in their field of research. The online sessions are designed to inspire students to consider the wide-ranging possibilities of a career in marine science by connecting them with leading researchers across a range of specialist areas.

Researchers from across the WAMSI partnership and at various stages in their career, from PhD students to established marine scientists, have presented on a range of marine science topics, including seagrass restoration, artificial reefs, underwater noise and surf economics, demonstrating the many pathways available for students considering a career in the field.

Thinking Blue provides invaluable insights into diverse scientific careers and real-world applications. Some students may be inspired to study marine science, but all of them develop a greater understanding of the world’s oceans, the threats they face and the role of science in finding solutions.

We invite interested schools to contact WAMSI if you would like to host a Thinking Blue session.

We are also open to suggestions on particular marine science topics you would like to see covered in this program.
