About the theme

This research is improving knowledge of the spatial and temporal distribution of fish and crustaceans in Cockburn Sound, including key commercial and recreational target species, prey species and zooplankton (including fish larvae). It is also looking at trophic connections in the food web within the system and  introduced species.

A priority focus is how various pressures can impact the different life stages of these key species, and which seasons are most critical to their survival. This work will improve our capacity to develop appropriate port construction and operation activity schedules and management thresholds to minimise long-term impacts.
