3.2.2 Plume Characteristics (laboratory studies)

Home Projects Dredging Science 3.2.2 Plume Characteristics (laboratory studies)

About the theme

In this study we performed comparative measurements using various common turbidity sensors, including optical scattering and acoustic scattering instrumentation, and compared and contrasted the results with respect to estimating particle load (TSS concentration), and/or Particle Size Distributions (PSDs). Studies were conducted in a controlled laboratory- based setting with a range of different sediment types primarily obtained from the Pilbara coast.

Aims

To determine whether sediment samples can be collected in the field and subsequently be measured in a tank to determine physical/optical properties representative of the field conditions.
