Thinking Blue is WAMSI’s High School Outreach program connecting students in their final year of high school with top scientists in their field of research. The online sessions are designed to inspire students to consider the wide-ranging possibilities of a career in marine science and demonstrate the many pathways available for students considering a career in the field.
Researchers from across the WAMSI partnership and at various stages in their career, from PhD students to established marine scientists, have presented on a range of marine science topics, including seagrass restoration, artificial reefs and surf economics.
The online sessions have been recorded and made available to more than 30 high schools with marine science programs across the State, and uploaded to WAMSI’s YouTube channel: www.youtube.com/user/WAMSIHQ/playlists. In 2022, the program was nominated for a QCE Award.
