International Indian Ocean Science Conference

The conference aims at assessing the progress and scientific knowledge gained during the last 4 years of IIOE-2 (during 2016-2020).

The conference invites presentations focussing but not limited to all six themes of IIOE-2 Science plan (i.e., human impacts and benefits; boundary current dynamics and ecosystem impacts; monsoon variability and ecosystem response; circulation, climate variability and change; extreme events; and discovery of unique physical, geological, biogeochemical and ecological features of the Indian Ocean).

It will provide an opportunity for the scientists working on different facets of the Indian Ocean to present their ideas and discuss the outstanding issues, identify the knowledge gaps and plan a way forward to address such issues.

Presentations highlighting innovative ideas on "Translating benefits of Science to Society" or with societal implications are encouraged. The "International Indian Ocean Science Conference 2020 (IIOSC-2020)" sponsored by Ministry of Earth Sciences (MoES), Govt. of India, will be held during 16-20 March 2020 in Goa, India co-hosted by National Institute of Oceanography (NIO) Goa, National Centre for Polar Ocean Research ( NCPOR) Goa, Goa University and Indian National Centre for Ocean Information Services (INCOIS) Hyderabad, India.

The Australian Meteorological and Oceanographic Society (AMOS) is delighted to host the joint 27th AMOS Annual Meeting and International Conference on Indian Ocean Meteorology and Oceanography (AMOS 2020) in Fremantle, Western Australia, from 10–14 February 2020.

The AMOS Annual Meeting is Australia’s pre-eminent meeting profiling the latest findings and applications of our sciences.  AMOS 2020 will have over 40 thematic sessions covering topics in meteorology, oceanography and other climate sciences under the broad themes of weather, ocean processes, atmospheric processes, climate, land surface processes, Antarctic science, climate services and community engagement.  This year we will be highlighting the current research in Indian oceanography and meteorology with a special conference programme attached to the general AMOS Annual Meeting proceedings.  In addition to a focus on the Indian Ocean, the conference will also have a strong water theme.  The Fremantle and neighbouring Perth areas are adapting to a decrease in freshwater supply. This, coupled with the recent drought conditions in the southeast of the continent, means managing water is an urgent topic.

World Fisheries day is celebrated every year on November 21 throughout the world by the fisherfolk communities. Fishing communities worldwide celebrate this day through rallies, workshops, public meetings, cultural programs, dramas, exhibition, music show, and demonstrations to highlight the importance of maintaining the world's fisheries.

Following the success of the 1^st International Workshop on Waves, Storm Surges and Coastal Hazards held in Liverpool in 2017 and building on the many years of successful Wave Hindcasting and Forecasting workshops, the 2^nd International Workshop on Waves, Storm Surges and Coastal Hazards will be held in Melbourne, Australia in November 2019.  This meeting will be hosted by the University of Melbourne.

The 2019 State Natural Resource Management (NRM) and Coastal Conference will be held amongst the beautiful natural gardens of Edith Cowan University, Joondalup from 1 October – 4 October 2019.

A highly regarded WA event that has been held regularly since the 1990s, the Conference will focus on maximising networking opportunities with an interactive program including workshops, tours, engaging conference sessions and open space sessions.
