Australia and NZ Scientific Diving Assn Meeting and Workshop
The Australia and New Zealand Scientific Diving Association is holding its Annual General Meeting and Workshop in Hobart, Tasmania from 17 to 18 September 2024.
If you are a SCUBA diver, dive officer and have an interest in scientific diving, you are encouraged to come along to this in-person only, event in Hobart.
If you are a diver, does it feel like the bar keeps being raised to be able to jump in the water for your scientific work or study? If you are a dive officer or manager, does it feel like there is a lack of clarity in the legal and institutional frameworks for managing scientific dive operations?
This event has been designed by divers and dive officers in response to a growing discomfort about the way diving for scientific purposes is managed and regulated around Australia. It aims to help clear up the roles of the law (Acts and Legislation), the Australian Standards and your institution, and give you, the scientific diving community, a chance to raise the issues that most impact your work-dive life, and that you see as most inhibiting for broader participation in scientific diving.
