Microplastics workshop – IOMRC

9 January 2024/in /by Cecile O'Connor
Date: 12 January 2024
Time: 10:00 am - 12:00 pm
Location: Indian Ocean Marine Research Centre at UWA

Dr Brian Walker, Professor of Biology at Fairfield University in Fairfield Connecticut USA, will speak at a microplastics workshop at the Indian Ocean Marine Research Centre on Friday 12 January 2024.

The workshop will discuss microplastics and provide an insight into some of the best practices for laboratories wanting to explore microplastics contamination.

As microplastics are everywhere, special attention must be paid to preventing the contamination of samples. You’ll find out about simple but important practices to avoid such problems.

Dr Walker has spent his career looking at how human activities impact animals with his primary focus being penguins.

The workshop is from 10am to 12 noon at the IOMRC Auditorium – 64 Fairway Crawley – on The University of Western Australia campus.
