About the Program

Westport has partnered with WAMSI to deliver a major collaborative science program on the marine environment at Cockburn Sound.

The WAMSI Westport Marine Science Program will ensure the environmental impact assessment for Western Australia’s future container port is based on independent and outstanding science.

The program will draw on numerous experts from the physical, biological and social science disciplines in Western Australia to fill knowledge gaps about this most important and unique coastal ecosystem.

Over the next three years, WAMSI and its partners will deliver 31 research projects designed to provide the information needed to manage this environment now and into the future.
